Shire Folk and the Louis de Wet Foundation present Canadian folk duo, Basset, in concert in the ancient but intimate setting of the Great Hall at Wenlock Abbey.

Basset are full of timeless heart, with deeply human lyrics and stunning duo harmonies reminiscent of the early folk revival. Their live performances are both sincere and disarmingly funny, with warmth enough to soothe anyone ready to lean in.

Their cinematic debut album, ‘In the Clay’, was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award, and earned nods from NPR and the CBC, plus a performance at Celtic Connections in 2024 and the Manchester Folk Festival in 2025. CBC’s Tom Power says, “if you’re a lover of great close harmonies like Simon and Garfunkel, or Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, I think you’re going to love this”.

The band will land in the UK with their brand new record, ‘One of Many’, featuring some of the most honest and direct songs they have ever written which seamlessly blend age-old stories and myths with everyday life.

The event will start at 2pm.  Entry will be from the front gate of Wenlock Abbey (in the Bullring) from 1:15pm. (please note, there will be NO entry after 1:45pm). There is a short walk up to the Abbey, and, being an ancient house, surfaces and steps are sometimes uneven and doors narrow. Regrettably it is not wheelchair friendly.

Tea and coffee in the interval for a small donation.

Just 50 tickets available at £10 each.
